Fred Timeline

The Original FRED Project (1997-2000)

The Fred methodology and programming environment were originally developed in a joint research project between University of Tampere and University of Helsinki. The project was funded by the National Technology Agency of Finland (Tekes) and several software companies. Project members were Kai Koskimies (project manager), Jukka Paakki, Markku Hakala, Juha Hautamäki, Jyrki Tuomi, Antti Viljamaa and Jukka Viljamaa.

Fred Experiences (2000)

The project concentrated on gathering real-life experiences of task-based framework specialization by applying Fred to a framework developed by Nokia. The project was carried out at Tampere University of Technology. Project members were Kai Koskimies (project manager), Markku Hakala and Juha Hautamäki.

JavaFrames (2001-)

Ongoing project to enhance the theory on architecture oriented programming as well as further develop the Fred implementation. The project is funded by the National Technology Agency of Finland (Tekes) and several software companies. The project is carried out with the co-operation between Tampere University of Technology and University of Helsinki.
